The tiny Icon that appears in the address bar of many web browsers may be customized for your web site. This icon will also appear aside bookmarks of your site, so it's a good idea to create one for yourself.

We include our WV favicon on new customer web sites as a way to encourage customers to create their own favicon to replace ours. At left is the favicon image before shrinking and saving it in icon file format.
Add your icon by creating a icon graphic and uploading it to "favicon.ico" in your web site directory.
The favicon file must be a 16 pixel square, preferably with only 16 or 32 colors. (Actually while the recommended size is 16X16, multiples of 16 will probably also work.) The file must be saved in Windows icon file (.ico) format. Various applications will create this format; we used Photoshop to create ours. If you don't have Photoshop, search the net to find an appropriate icon-producing program for your platform.
I've created and uploaded my favicon, but I can't see it!
Browsers can be very stubborn about displaying an up-to-date favicon file.
If you've cleared the browser cache and still can't see your own favicon, try a browser reset.
