iWeb
iWeb is part of the iLife suite of applications that is shipped with Macintosh computers. iWeb features designer-created templates and easy site creation. Apple's dot Mac Internet Service provides one click publishing of iWeb-created web sites.
WebValence supports iWeb-created web sites. We recommend using Apple File Sharing for publishing your iWeb created web site. With Apple File Share, you will be able to connect to your web site with one click in the Finder and then Publish to your Web Site fromiWeb.
Connect to WebValence via Apple File Share in MacOS X
The first step in uploading your iWeb-created web site is to establish an Apple File Share connection to your web site file folder. Once this connection is established, you will be able to publish directly to your site folder on the server.
You can also save a shortcut to this connection so that reconnecting is streamlined to a single click.
Follow the steps below to connect to WebValence via Apple File Sharing for downloading and uploading files:
- Click on your desktop, or the finder icon in your dock
- From the Finder Go menu choose "Connect to Server"
(shortcut: type command-K). You should see the window below.
- Enter the name of your web site at the "Server Address" line and choose "Connect"

- The Server may or may not be "Raven". Don't worry about that.
- Enter your user name and password. Select "Register User" and check "Remember password in keychain" to skip this step in the future. Choose connect.

- You should see a folder corresponding to your account, ie, named with your user name. If so, double click this folder name to see your web site or sites.
- If you do not see your own user folder double click the Users folder and locate your user folder therein.

- Within your own user folder, you will see a site folder (or possibly several site folders). Site folders match the name of your web site. Double click on a web site folder to view contents, as shown below.
- If you haven't yet published files to your folder, you will see only some placeholder items, including a home page, a Favicon, a Console folder, and robots.txt for search engines.

Publish from iWeb to your Web Site
When you have created your web site and are ready to publish, use the "File > Publish to Folder" menu item to publish to the server as illustrated below.

Use the file publish dialog to locate your web site folder on the server. Hint: Apple File Share places an entry at the root of your File Structure, the area you see when you select the name of your computer. Start with this entry to locate your own user account and web site folder as illustrated below.
When you have highlighted your site folder, the one that matches the name of your site, select the "Choose" button to begin publishing. If your site is large, this may take a few minutes. Relax and wait.

iWeb will create a folder called "Site" and place all of your website files inside this folder. To view your site, enter the site name in your browser. In this example the site name is http://topdogdiscs.com/
Create a Shortcut for Repeat Connections
For ease in reconnecting with Apple File Sharing and your site, create a shortcut (alias folder). To do this, locate your site folder in the finder. Select the folder so that it is highlighted.
- File > Make Alias
- Drag the Alias to a convenient location on your hard drive, such as your "Sites" folder
- Drag the icon for the Alias to your Dock, on the right hand side, to easily find it
- Remove the Alias from the Apple File Sharing window by dragging it to the trash
Now you will be able to login to the server by clicking on your site folder alias, or it's icon in the Dock.
