Apple Mail

Mail is the standard program bundled with MacOS X. We recommend Mail for ease of setup, usability, antispam features, and beautiful rendering of graphical messages.

Use an IMAP Account if you routinely access your mail with more than one computer.

Setup Apple Mail for IMAP

Illustrations below are from Version 3 of Mail. Older versions have a different appearance.

From the Mail: Preferences: Account Information menu, choose the plus sign at lower left to create a new account.

Add Account

Incoming Server

1. Account type: choose IMAP.
2. Account description: Enter an arbitrary description for this account.
3. User name: Enter your address as you want it to appear in your outgoing mail.

Incoming Mail Security

No changes needed here.

Outgoing Mail Server

1. Outgoing mail server: Enter mail.yourdomain.suffix.
2. Authentication must be checked.
3. User name: Your user name is the same as your Email address.
4. Password: Enter your standard WebValence password

On continue, Mail will immediately attempt to check for the existense of this mail account at the incoming mail server. You can't proceed without correcting any errors at this step. Recheck all of your settings and contact support@webvalence.com if you are unable to continue without errors.

Incoming Mail Security

No changes needed.

Outgoing Mail Security

No changes needed.

Account Summary

Check "Take Account online" if you are ready.

Testing

That's it. Test your Email setting by receiving and replying to an Email message from a friend.
