From any web browser, go to the Web Mail page that is associated with your Email account. The secure address for Web Mail login page is:
To login, enter the Email address and password for your mail box. It's the same as you use in the settings of your Email program.
The options area has two modes: Menu View and Folder View.
These are distinctly different in appearance, as illustrated and explained below.
Web
Mail Menu View provides a menu of options, at right. Menu options are the following:
Compose - Compose a new message and optionally send it.
Incoming Mail - View the contents of your Web Mail Inbox.
Junk Mail - Access your Postini spam and virus message quarantine.
Calendar - Access your calendar.
Contacts - Access your contacts
Main Tasks - Access your To-Do Tasks
Notes Folder - Access your Notes folder
Mail Folders - Switch the left margin to Folder View.
Settings - Access your Web Mail preferences. Vacation autoresponders are setup in this option.
Mail Rules - Create rules for processing incoming mail. Useful for creating permanent responders. Occasionally used to sort mail.
Domain Admin - Administer Email for this domains. (Requires Administrator privileges)
Log Out - Log out of Web Mail and return to the Web Mail login page.
A
list of Folders replaces the Menu Bar in Folder View, at right. Folders
may include Email, Events, Tasks, Contacts, Drafts and Notes.
A number to the right of each folder name reveals the count of items in that folder.
Select a Folder Name to view the contents of that folder in the view area at right. Select a Folder Icon to view controls for that folder.
You may add custom new folders with the [Add New] hyperlink. For example, you could add a folder for History as illustrated in the example at right.
Below the list of folders is an area labeled Filter. This allows you to search through custom folders that you have created. This would be useful if you created dozens of custom folders.
At the bottom of the filter area is graphical gauge of storage capacity and storage currently in use.
Return to Menu View:
Select
the chevron symbol in
the light blue horizontal bar to hide the folders and return to Menu View.
The Compose icon (looks like an Envelope) at top left includes a small downward-facing disclosure triangle. Select this to reveal a series of options for accessing different composing tasks:
+ Envelope: Compose a message
+ Alarm: Add an event to the calendar
+ Check: Add a task To-Do
+ Pencil: Add a note
+ Person: Add an individual contact
+ Persons: Add a group contact
X: close the disclosure window
Your return address should already appear in the From field. Enter addresses for To, Cc and Bcc as needed, and a subject line in the Subject field.
To
enter addresses by selecting them from your address book, click on the Addressee Icon (the
head shot icon) to open the Address book window. Toggle the Display drop down
menu to locate the
appropriate Address Book.
Type, or copy and paste, your message text in the large box below the header fields.
Rich Format Editing Widgets Bar![]()
To use an Editing Widgets, highlight some text in the text box, then click a widget to change the styling of the highlited text. Editing Widgets above are, from left to right: Underline, Italics, Boldface, Numbered List, Bullet List, Redo Last Change, Undo Last Change.
To add an attachment to your message, click the Browse button, just above the message box to locate the file on your local computer. Navigate through files and folders on your hard drive to select the one you want to attach. If you want to attach more than one file, repeat this process for each attachment.
When you have finished composing your message, use the Send Mail icon to initiate sending.
Send Mail: To send your message, click Send at upper left.
Save Draft: To save your message as a Draft, click Save Draft at upper left.
If you don't see the Save Draft icon, then you need to create a Drafts folder for future use. Caution: the process of creating a Draft folder will empty the current compose window.
When you return from break, look for your draft composition in the Draft Folder, visible in Folder View.
When using POP, Sent messages are discarded by default. To save your Sent messages, create a Sent folder and update the Webmail settings, as follows:
Settings: To create or update a stock signature, click Settings at upper right.
Type your signature in the signature field. Be sure to click the Update button to save the signature that you entered.
Update: Don't forget to click the Update button to save your new Signature.
Return to the compose screen to complete your message via the Drafts folder, the Compose Menu, or the Compose Icon.
Open your INBOX from the Incoming Mail item in Menu View, or from the INBOX in Folder View.
It is often helpful to view incoming messages in different sorted order. Click a column heading to sort messages by the content of that column. For example, to sort by date received, click the "Received" column. Click again to reverse the sort.
To read a message, click the from address in the From Column or the message subject in the Subject column of the mailbox. The "Read Message" window then displays the contents of your message.
Use icons at top of the Read Message window as follows:
Trash: discard this message and return to the INBOX
Reply: compose a reply message to the sender.
Reply to All: compose a reply message to the all of the addressees.
Forward: forward this message to one or more addressees.
Redirect: send this message to an addressee, without changing the sender address.
Trash and View Next: discard this message and move to the next unread message.
View Next: mark this message as read and move to the next unread message.
Use icons at the bottom of the Read Message window to save messages in a Web Mail folder.
Select a folder as a destination for this message.
Move Message: Move this message into the selected folder above.
Copy Message: Create a copy of this message into the selected folder above.
Message attachments are displayed after the message text itself. To download an attachment, click on the link next to the attachment icon within the message.
You may also use attachment icons at the bottom of the Read Message window to file attachment separately. This requires special privileges. Contact support if you want to store attachments separately.
