Guide to Your Announcement
Use recommendations below to announce your Email broadcast. Experience shows that this method may generate some new subscriptions, but cannot be relied upon for all of your new subscribers.
Your results will depend on the quality of your writing plus the attractiveness & distinctiveness of your subject. Be sure to review the guidance information at the bottom of the page before you actually undertake the listing process.
Search Engines
We recommend that you develop at least one page on your web site (or an entire web site) that introduces your newsletter, provides a link to a recent edition and a means to subscribe and cancel. Register the URL for your newsletter page and register it with Google and Yahoo, as if it were a web site. Example of a URL: http://yourdomain.com/newsletter.html
Google
Use the Google site map to locate the site submission page. Skim the content in the Google web master's area to learn a bit about search engines and submissions.
Yahoo
Go to yahoo and type in 'newsletter' in the search area, and then choose the "Directory" tab. You should see dozens of interest categories to use in selecting a category to list your list. There is no generic newsletter section; Yahoo files newsletters under special interest categories.
This means that you register your newsletter with Yahoo in a similar way that you register your web site with them.
- Find the two Yahoo subject categories that your newsletter fits within. For example, your one of your categories might be:
Home : Computers and Internet : Hardware : Personal Computers : Windows :
- Find the elusive, but detailed and instructive "Suggest a Site" guidance and follow it. Make sure that you identify your entry as a newsletter by including 'newsletter' in your page title.
Ezine Directories
To locate the current crop of newsletter directories (they constantly change) choose Google and search for "Email Ezine Directory". You will see thousands of directories which offer the possiblity of registering your newsletter.
